<description>You are right on! When we play a &quot;role&quot; - whether professional role or not, to be effective and convincing in the role we are playing, we must dress in the costume that befits the role.

		<description>Angie,

It is a fact of life that people judge you by what you wear and what you drive. I agree with Taylor that it is superficial, but it is a fact of life. That said, what you wear can also affect your demeanor. I was often mistaken for the office manager because my clothing AND demeanor were better than the office manager. Look at your clothing not as an expenditure, but as an investment.

		<description>Angie,

This is a great story, but are you sure you would not have had more success if you just would have stayed on the path you were on? Your original values sound great to me. Why compromise who YOU are.
If you want to associate with people who value you by your shoes, great, you can have those clients. I think it is far better to be who you are, dress comfortably and impress people with your performance.
Good luck with the new wardrobe!
